A commitment to daily practice is necessary for lessons to be effective. Parents are expected to play an active role in lessons and practice for students younger than 12. Children whose parents are actively involved in lessons and practice make progress quickly and are more likely to continue playing for the long term. Older students are expected to practice on their own with age-appropriate parental supervision.
It is helpful to practice at the same time each day, in order to set up a daily routine. If this is not possible, then scheduling practice by writing it on the family calendar works well. Below are the daily practice expectations for each level:
