The Ithaca Youth Bureau Summer Band Program is a five-week program that was established to provide students of different ages and abilities with a substantive large ensemble experience. Michael W. Allen created the program in an effort to further students’ musical development during the summer months, when access to school programs is limited.
The Ithaca Youth Bureau Summer Band Program meets twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Lincoln Hall on the Cornell University campus. This year’s program starts on Thursday, June 27th, and ends with a final concert on Thursday, August 1st. The program consists of a beginning band and an advanced band. Students that play at NYSSMA Levels I and II participate in the beginning band, and students that play at NYSSMA Levels III – VI participate in the advanced band. Information and registration materials are included in the Ithaca Youth Bureau I-Playbook. Registration is also available through CommunityPass (type "Ithaca City, NY) or directly through the Ithaca Youth Bureau.
